VOLUNTEER for Ruby on Rails Outreach Workshop for Women, 2/26-2/27

We are looking for experienced Rails developers of all genders to volunteer at the February RoR Outreach Workshop for Women. When you RSVP, please indicate whether you are volunteering for Friday, Saturday or both!

This workshop will be in San Francisco, location to be announced.

Not an experienced Rails developer but still want to help?
We also need volunteers to assist with registration, managing the door and all-around wrangling. Just indicate what you want to help with when you RSVP.

Friday February 26th, 5:30-9:30pm
Software Install Fest: feel free to volunteer for any amount of time if you cannot make it to the whole event.

As an Install Fest volunteer you will:

  • Answer questions about what is being installed
  • Help troubleshoot as attendees set up their laptops for the Saturday workshop.

    Saturday February 27th:
    9:00am-4pm: workshop (lunch provided).
    5pm: after-party for volunteers & attendees, location TBA

    As a Workshop volunteer, you will:

  • Help attendees as they work through the workshop topics.
  • Help instructors answer questions.

      This was so fun! I helped out with a less experienced group, so it was really rewarding to explain something and have people understand (or at least understand better). I would definitely do this again.

      "Easy does it" should be our motto. Love that we are introducing TDD upfront - think that we could get a lot from pooling people that want to pair and pooling people that want to learn in more of the 'follow the leader' or 'on my own'

      Teaching was easier than I expected. All of the students had a fair amount of non-ruby programming experience so picked things up quickly. The curriculum length was just right.
