Carbon Five is hosting a quad-weekly, intimate hack night for developers who want to code and collaborate for a couple of hours after work.
Bring a computer and a project or enthusiasm to work on someone else's project.
This hack night's theme is real-time web apps. It's awesome what we can do with web apps now (relatively easily) compared to a few years ago. Think of something fun (maybe even useful) that requires near instant communication with users. This is an opportunity to build something using Pusher, Faye, Juggernaut or any of the other services/tools out there.
You're welcome to just come and hack on something else too.
We'll kick off at 6:30 sharp with a very brief daily-style intro where everyone gives their name, says what they're working on and whether or not they want a hand... then we'll get our hack on. There will be at least a couple Carbon Five folks around to help out.
Doors open at 6, kick off at 6:30, optional lightning talks around 9:15. Doors close at 9:45.
It would probably be good to attend, as you'll get exposure to the culture of agile and have an opportunity to observe experts. A lot of the learning around RoR is cultural/organizational, that's the most effective way I've seen to learn.
Ryan: Jonathan is right. Hack night attendees span the gamut in terms of experience. Come hack with us.
Thanks for coming tonight! If you have suggestions for the hack night or ideas for themes, do share. See you in 4 weeks! -Christian
is this an event that a noob would get something out of? or am I better off sticking to a mentors for beginners event?
