Pivotal Labs (new office!) (map)
The kind folks at Pivotal Labs have agreed to host us for February. Since ruby is so good at meta-, this month we'll have some meta-presentations: presenters talking about doing presentations.
Davis Frank will talk about his project, Keydown:
Keydown is a yet another gem for generating an HTML-based presentation deck. It takes Markdown with a few small extensions and builds a deck.js-driven, single HTML page that you can present anywhere you can launch a browser.
Will Read will give a lightning talk on Whurl, a Web interface to cURL
We all hate documenting code, but when it comes to web-based APIs, documentation can be a key to adoption. Whurl is a Rails mountable engine, inspired by hurl.it that takes it a step beyond pretty-printing and helps your API fan base interact with your platform right away. It's also great when you're dealing with someone else's poorly documented API, want to file a bug report, or you're doing story acceptance with someone who isn't command-line friendly.
Shannon -jj Behrens will talk about Using YouTube APIs for Education
Did you know that YouTube offers APIs? Did you know that video is one of the most powerful communication mechanisms for instilling knowledge? Now you can combine the two! Come watch as Shannon -jj Behrens shows that YouTube and Ruby on Rails are a great fit for building interesting educational apps.
Matthew Kocher will give a presentation about how Pivotal configures workstations using chef and the pivotal_workstation cookbook.
Is there going to be food at this, or should I eat beforehand?
