The March 2009 SF Ruby Meetup will be at SlideShare. Thanks to Jonathan Boutelle (SlideShare CTO) for sponsoring this month's venue.
PRESENTATIONS
"Part 2" of CellGuided by Rajiv Aggarwal
This time Rajiv will focus on the web interface for authoring tours and treasure hunts. This interface uses Google Maps (ym4r plugin), Geocoding (GeoKit) and assorted other plugins. Rajiv will demo the features and show the underlying code that makes it happen.
Heroku: Instant Ruby Deployment by Adam Wiggins
Adam will demo how to deploy your Rails, Merb, Sinatra, or any Rack app to Heroku in a matter of seconds. After the demo we'll cover some of the most common questions like how to do cron jobs, how to use binary gems, and how to import or export your database. Using Heroku means you never have to think about servers or hosting again!
GitHub Tips n Tricks by Chris Wanstrath
Chris will go over some of the more obscure (but awesome) GitHub features, demo a big upcoming addition, then discuss some of the challenges GitHub has overcome and the challenges it's facing today. He'll also answer any questions and will be accepting bribes for new features.
